Under “Work with Machines and Materials,” students participate in maker-based activities such as creating catapults, robotic arms, balloon-powered cars, and working windmills using simple materials like ice cream sticks, bottle caps, and rubber bands. These activities help students understand engineering concepts through experimentation and innovation.
Kaushal Bodh also introduces students to coding and digital creativity through Scratch programming projects. Students learn to design games, create animations, debug code, and develop interactive projects. This early exposure to computational thinking helps students build confidence in working with technology.
Another major focus of Kaushal Bodh is experiential and community-based learning. Students are encouraged to conduct field visits to farms, bicycle repair shops, biodiversity sites, museums, and local markets while interacting with community experts such as farmers, mechanics, artisans, and curators. This helps students connect classroom learning with real-world experiences.
The framework also promotes practical life skills through activities such as cooking without fire, organizing food melas, preparing school museums, and creating biodiversity registers. These projects encourage teamwork, communication, creativity, and independent thinking.
Another important aspect of Kaushal Bodh is the supervised integration of AI tools in learning activities. CBSE suggests the use of tools such as Google Lens, ChatGPT, AI image generators, and translation platforms for ideation, plant identification, multilingual presentations, and creative exploration.
The framework also introduces a major shift in assessment methods. According to CBSE recommendations, practical learning and activities carry 80% weightage, while theory contributes only 20%. This highlights the growing importance of experiential and competency-based education.
